On Day 5 of the Paris Paralympics, Indian athletes brought 2 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze medals bringing India’s medal tally to 15.

The Paris Paralympics 2024 witnessed a spectacular day for India on September 2, as the nation’s athletes added two more gold medals to their tally. Sumit Antil and Nitesh Kumar emerged as the stars of the day, securing top honors in their respective events and reinforcing India's growing stature in the global para-sport arena.

 

In the F64 final of the Paralympic Games 2024, Sumit Antil broke the Paralympic javelin record twice with a best throw of 70.59 meters, increasing India's gold medal total to three, and Nitesh Kumar, a para-badminton star, won the Men's Singles SL3 para-badminton final, bringing home India's second gold medal. In the meantime, the SH6 women's singles badminton event saw Nithya Sre Sivan win the bronze medal. Manisha Ramadass (SU5) won bronze, Suhas Yathiraj (SL4) and Thulasimathi Murugesan (SU5) took home silver. In the para archery Mixed Team Compound Event, veteran Rakesh Kumar and armless archery sensation Sheetal Devi won bronze. After winning a silver medal in the Men's Discus Throw F56 Final on Day 5 of the Paris Paralympics, Yogesh Kathuniya brought home the first medal for India.

 

As the Paris Paralympics 2024 continue, India’s athletes are riding high on momentum and confidence. With several events still to come, the country eagerly looks forward to more medal-winning performances and moments of national pride.
