On Friday, Day 7 of the current Paris Olympics, there was a lot of action for India. With two bronzes won by Manu Bhaker and one by Swapnil Kusale, India now has three medals overall. Bhaker thus maintained her pursuit of a third medal on Day 7 by qualifying for the women's 25-meter pistol final. Esha Singh, meanwhile, placed eighteenth and was eliminated. Lakshya Sen becomes the first Indian shuttler to advance to the men's singles semifinal.
India was disappointed as Tulika Maan lost her round of 32 women's +75 kg judo match. Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara's mixed team defeated Indonesia in the 1/8 elimination round and Spain in the quarterfinals, and for the first time, Indian archers reached the semis. However, they fell to South Korea in the semifinals and again lost to the United States in the bronze medal game. In the meantime, the men's hockey team returned to winning ways, defeating Australia 3-2 after 52 years in the history of hockey.
In the men's single sculls, Balraj Panwar placed 23rd out of 33 competitors in rowing. Parul Chaudhary was eliminated in the women's 5000m Heat 2 after placing 14th in the competition. The same event put Ankita out as well. In the meantime, Tajinderpal Singh Toor was eliminated after finishing 15th in the men's shot put qualification.
After four races, Vishnu Saravanan finishes in the third and fourth places in the men's dinghy, placing him 22nd with 83 points. In the women's dinghy, Nethra Kumanan finished 15th and 27th in Races 2 and 3, before placing 11th with 48 points after the first three races.
