In the men's singles SL3 final, Nitesh Kumar, an Indian shuttler, overcame Great Britain's Daniel Bethell in a thrilling three-game match to win India's second gold medal at the Paris Paralympics. After an hour and twenty minutes of intense competition between the top two seeds vying for the gold medal, top-seeded Nitesh emerged victorious, defeating Bethell 21-14, 18-21, and 23-21 to secure his maiden Paralympic medal.

This is the third Paralympic medal for badminton for India; interestingly, all of the country's medals in the sport have been gold. Pramod Bhagat (SL3) and Krishna Nagar (SH6) secured the top podium positions at the 2020 Tokyo Games. Players with significant mobility issues on one side of their body, both legs, or as a result of missing limbs are classified as SL3. Even though their movement is restricted on a half-width court, these athletes are nevertheless capable of shooting a wide variety of shots.

Nitesh took the first game 21-14 after he played a dominant opening act in which he displayed excellent defence and timed his smashes well. In the second game, though, Bethell put up a powerful fightback, and the matchup got very competitive. Ultimately, the top-seeded Indian player maintained his composure and won two straight points to secure his maiden Paralympic medal.
