Rajasthan Royals' interim captain Riyan Parag has been fined ₹12 lakh for his team's slow over-rate during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati on March 30.
The penalty was the first of the season by the team under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct dealing with minimum over-rate breaches.
Parag is the second captain to be fined for such an offense this season, after Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya was fined after their game against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.
Against CSK, Rajasthan Royals won a close six-run game. Sri Lankan wrist spinner Wanindu Hasaranga was the key to the victory, taking four wickets for 35 runs, and Sandeep Sharma defended 20 runs in the last over, including the vital wicket of MS Dhoni. Nitish Rana's half-century had earlier driven the Royals to a fighting total.
Rajasthan Royals are next up for Punjab Kings at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh.
