Argentina Won their 16th Copa America Title

Argentina beat Colombia by 1-0 and won Copa America 2024

Argentina Won their 16th Copa America Title

In a thrilling finale at Hard Rock Stadium, in Miami, Lautaro Martinez's decisive goal in extra time propelled Argentina to their 16th Copa America title, as they edged out Colombia 1-0. The victory marks a significant milestone for Argentina, solidifying their dominance in South American football history.

Lionel Messi, the captain, has possibly signed off in his last major tournament by lifting three major trophies. The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner would therefore be close to 40 years old when the next World Cup takes place. This was Angel Di Maria’s final game for Argentina; the winger declared last year that the Copa America in 2024 would mark the end of his international career.

Post-match celebrations saw Lionel Messi lift the Copa America trophy, a poignant moment for the star who has endured several near-misses in international tournaments. "This victory is for all Argentines. We've worked so hard for this moment, and it feels incredible to finally achieve it," Messi said, holding back tears of joy.

The triumph adds another chapter to Argentina's storied football history and serves as a testament to the enduring talent and spirit of its players.
