Abhishek Sharma Breaks Rohit Sharma's Record, Slams Maiden Century in 2nd T20I vs Zimbabwe

Abhishek Sharma marked his name in the record books by smashing his maiden T20I century in the second match against Zimbabwe. The young batter’s remarkable innings not only secured a commanding victory for India but also saw him break the record of Rohit Sharma by becoming the batter with the most sixes in 2024. Abhishek Sharma’s century came off just 48 balls with 12 fours and 6 sixes, showcasing his ability to find gaps and clear boundaries with ease.

India, batting first, posted a formidable total of 210/4, thanks to Abhishek’s outstanding performance. His partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad laid a solid foundation, with the duo putting up 120 runs for the second wicket. Abhishek’s fearless approach and innovative shot selection kept the Zimbabwean bowlers on their toes, making it difficult for them to settle into a rhythm.

Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma congratulated the young star on social media, acknowledging the significance of his achievement. “Records are meant to be broken. What an outstanding inning by Abhishek! The future of Indian cricket is in great hands,” Rohit tweeted

In the post-match presentation, Abhishek Sharma said, “It’s a dream come true for me. Breaking Rohit Bhaiya’s record is something I never imagined. I just wanted to play my natural game and contribute to the team’s victory. I’m grateful for the support from my teammates and the coaching staff."
