A tragic road accident in Kolkata claimed the lives of three family members and left three others injured after their car crashed into a pillar late on Friday night.

According to police officials, the incident occurred on EM Bypass near Science City when the vehicle, reportedly speeding, lost control and slammed into a roadside pillar. The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the immediate deaths of three occupants, while the other three sustained serious injuries.

One of the three wounded, according to the police, informed them that it was an attempted suicide. They said that the family, who had a leather business, likely incurred financial loss and debts as a result of their drastic action. From their home, three bodies were found. The car crash also injured three other people. They are a single family. According to Rupesh Kumar, a joint police commissioner, the injured are currently in the hospital.

After one of the three injured informed them that they were trying suicide and that three additional bodies were at their home, the bodies of the two women and the girl were found, according to an investigator. The investigator stated, "Police went to the area and recovered the dead."

The incident has sent shockwaves across the city, with residents expressing their grief over the tragic loss of lives. Authorities have assured strict measures to prevent such accidents and improve road safety.
