On Saturday morning in Howrah, West Bengal, three coaches of the Secunderabad-Shalimar Superfast Express (Train No. 22850) derailed close to Nalpur Station. Omprakash Charan, South Eastern Railway's chief public relations officer (CPRO), stated that the B1 coach was one of three coaches involved in the incident.
Authorities and passengers are both concerned about the derailment, which was reported early this morning. However, Om Prakash Charna did affirm that there had been no reports of fatalities or injuries yet. According to the railways, medical relief trains and an accident relief train were sent out right away from Santragachi and Kharagpur to provide aid. Additionally, buses have been dispatched to transport the passengers to Kolkata.
When the Secunderabad-Shalimar Weekly Express train was moving from the middle line to the down line at 5:31 a.m., it derailed. Two passenger coaches and one cargo coach have gone down. There have been no reports of serious casualties or injuries. For the passengers' subsequent journey, about ten buses have been scheduled.
During an inspection of the PSU Braithwaite and Co. in Kolkata last month, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the number of accidents per year had decreased from 171 ten years ago to 40 at present.
