Famous for his smooth stroke play, classy timing, and capacity to turn beginnings into large scores, Rohit has established himself as one of the greats of cricket. His record-breaking feats in all three formats, leadership qualities, and unparalleled capacity to score double hundreds in ODIs have made him a crowd favorite. His journey from a kid in Mumbai to the Indian cricket team captain is one of hard work, ability, and determination.

Rohit was brought up by his grandparents and uncles due to financial constraints in Borivali, Mumbai, where he learned to play cricket.

He attended a cricket camp at 11 and eventually caught the eye of coach Dinesh Lad, who assisted him in earning a scholarship to Swami Vivekanand International School. Off-spinner Rohit was initially then moved up the order to bat at the opening position, which altered his life forever.

He married Ritika Sajdeh, who is a sports manager, in 2015, and the couple welcomed their daughter Samaira in 2018. His family has been a rock-solid support system throughout his cricket career.

Youth Career and Domestic Success
Rohit initially got noticed in the 2006 U-19 Cricket World Cup, where he made key scores for India. His performances on the field ensured that he made it to the domestic team of Mumbai. Rohit made his presence felt even in the Ranji Trophy after being included by scoring a double century against Gujarat. His consistence in the domestic league enabled him to join the international field.

Rohit made his ODI debut in 2007 but couldn't find consistency in his early years. But 2013 was a turning point year for him, when then-captain MS Dhoni requested him to open the batting. The change proved to be a masterstroke, and Rohit performed miracles in the new role.

He scored back-to-back hundreds against South Africa in his initial series as an opener and then was a key contributor to India's wins in Australia and England.
