Mysore-Darbhanga Bagmati Express Derails After Colliding with Goods Train in Tamil Nadu, 12 Coaches Off Tracks

In a tragic incident, the Mysore-Darbhanga Bagmati Express collided with a stationary goods train in Tamil Nadu early on Saturday morning, derailing 12 coaches. The accident occurred near the Sholavandan railway station around 6:30 AM, sending shockwaves across the region and prompting an immediate response from railway officials and emergency services.

The collision has resulted in several injuries, though no fatalities have been confirmed at the time of this report. Rescue operations are currently underway, with teams from the Southern Railway and local authorities rushing to the scene to assist trapped passengers and provide medical aid to the injured. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined, but initial reports suggest a possible signal failure.

The Southern Railway has issued a statement confirming the derailment and ensuring that relief trains and medical teams have been dispatched to the site. "Our priority is the safety of passengers. We are coordinating with local authorities to ensure that all necessary assistance is provided," said a spokesperson for the railway.

According to a railroad officer who was on the scene, 19 passengers have been hurt so far. 14 of them had serious injuries, and they are being treated at Stanley Hospital. The official, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that five others had minor injuries.

As a result of the accident, several trains operating on the Mysore-Darbhanga route have been delayed or diverted, causing significant disruptions to rail traffic in the region. Passengers are advised to check the status of their trains before traveling.

Rescue operations are expected to continue throughout the day as authorities work to clear the wreckage and restore the track for normal train services.

Further details regarding the number of injuries and any potential casualties are awaited. Authorities have urged people to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information about the accident.
