A sudden cloudburst in the Samej Khad Area in Rampur in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh has led to one confirmed death and left 28 others missing as search and rescue operations continue. The cloudburst, which struck late Wednesday night, triggered massive flash floods, landslides, and widespread destruction in the region.
Rescue efforts have been launched by units of the National Disaster Response Force, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, police, and home guards. According to Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anurag Kashyap, drones are also being utilized to find missing individuals.
In Thaltukhod, in the Padhar subdivision of the Mandi district, there was another recorded cloudburst. Mandi Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan stated that 9 people are listed as missing and that one body has been found.
Several houses have been damaged due to the severe flooding.
District administration and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been dispatched to the affected area.
