Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off six new Vande Bharat Express trains from Jharkhand today. The event, held at Ranchi Railway Station, marks another milestone in the country’s ongoing efforts to modernize its railway network.
The six semi-high-speed trains will operate on various routes, linking key cities in the eastern and northeastern parts of the country. The new trains aim to reduce travel time and enhance passenger comfort, with state-of-the-art facilities, including GPS-based passenger information systems, automatic sliding doors, and onboard Wi-Fi. Tatanagar-Patna, Brahmapur-Tatanagar, Rourkela-Howrah, Deoghar-Varanasi, Bhagalpur-Howrah, and Gaya-Howrah are the six new routes of the new Vande Bharat trains.
As per the Railways, there are currently 54 Vande Bharat trains that are traveling the nation. The Railway added, "They have completed a total of over 36,000 journeys and carried over 3.17 crore passengers."
The Vande Bharat Express has become a flagship initiative in India's rail modernization program. Known for its speed and efficiency, the train can reach speeds of up to 180 km/h and significantly reduce travel time compared to traditional services. The new routes are expected to benefit not just commuters but also businesses and tourism in the region.
Thousands of people gathered at the station to witness the historic moment, cheering as the trains were flagged off. The introduction of these new services is expected to ease congestion and improve travel experiences across these important corridors.
With these six new additions, the Vande Bharat fleet continues to expand across the country, providing a model for future high-speed rail networks in India.
