The BJP has released the tenth list of Lok Sabha candidates. There are nine candidates in the race. These include seven seats in Uttar Pradesh and two in West Bengal-Asansol and Chandigarh. The BJP has refused a ticket to Chandigarh's sitting MP, Kirron Kher. He was replaced by Sanjay Tandon. Sanjay Tandon is the current co-incharge of Himachal Pradesh and a former state president of Chandigarh.
The opponent of SS Ahluwalia is Shatrughan Sinha, a native of Asansol. Neeraj Shekhar, the former prime minister Chandra Shekhar's son, has been nominated by the BJP from Ballia.
Afzal Ansari, a Ghazipur-based SP candidate and the brother of Mukhtar Ansari, is his opponent. As a replacement for incumbent Member of Parliament Rita Bahuguna Joshi, the BJP has put up Praveen Patel of Phulpur Lok Sabha and Neeraj Tripathi of Prayagraj.
From Machhlishahr in Uttar Pradesh, B.P. Saroj has received a ticket. Kaushambi has been replaced by Vinod Sonkar. Jaiveer Thakur of Mainpuri has been fielded by the BJP to challenge Dimple Yadav of the Samajwadi Party. He presently serves as a cabinet minister in the administration of Yogi Adityanath.
