There are 58 Lok Sabha seats out of 80 in Uttar Pradesh. This parliamentary seat came into existence in 2008 when the Delimitation Commission recommended it. Shravasti district is located in the foothills of the Himalayas, close to the Nepal border. The city is identified as a Buddhist site and is visited by Buddhist devotees from all over the world. The district was first formed on May 22, 1997, but ceased to exist on January 13, 2004. It was later restored as a district again in June after 4 months.
Lok Sabha elections 2019: Ram Shiromani Verma of BSP won by 4,41,771 votes. Daddan Mishra of BJP got 4,36,451 votes. Dhirendra Pratap Singh of Congress got 58,042 votes.
