Rampur is an assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh. It is a part of Moradabad division. According to the 2011 census data, the population of Rampur was more than 23 lakh. In Rampur, 53.34 per cent of the population is literate, of which male literacy is 61.40 per cent and female literacy is 44.44 per cent. The Rampur Lok Sabha constituency has over 16 lakh voters, including 8,72,084 male and 7,44,900 female voters. The Rampur region has a total Muslim population of 50.57 per cent, while the Hindu population is 45.97 per cent. This area is world famous for the knife industry (Rampuri Knife).
Lok Sabha elections 2019: There are 11 candidates in the fray for the Rampur Lok Sabha seat. The main contest is between the BJP's Jaya Prada and the Samajwadi Party's Azam Khan. The Congress has fielded Sanjay Kapoor and the MDP has fielded Arshad Warsi. There were 4 independent candidates. SP's Azam Khan won the seat with 5,59,177 votes. BJP's star candidate Jaya Prada came second with 4,49,180 votes and Congress's Sanjay Kapoor was third with 35,009 votes.
