Raj Lali Gill spent most of her formative years in Washington DC, United States before returning to India. She is married to Lalinderjit Singh Gill and has one daughter, Gurpreet (Blu) Gill Maag, a former model and a notable Venture Capitalist who resides in Singapore.

Raj Lali Gill has a strong association with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), having played a key role as a founding member and state joint secretary. In March 2024, she achieved a significant milestone in her career by being appointed as the Chairperson of the Punjab State Commission for Women, taking over from Manisha Gulati.
