Known as the land of Maharishi Dadhichi, Mishrikh is one of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh and is made up of assembly seats in Sitapur, Hardoi and Kanpur districts. The city of Mishrikh has its own religious significance in mythology and according to legends, Maharishi Dadhichi donated his ashes to Lord Indra to tame the demons.
If we look at the parliamentary history of Mishrikh, it came into existence as a parliamentary seat in 1962, since then this seat has been reserved for the Scheduled Castes. In terms of the BJP, the Mishrikh constituency has not been very successful. However, in the 2014 elections, with the help of the Modi wave, BJP's Anju Bala managed to cross the electoral barrier from here. The BJP has won only 2 seats.
