Historically, the Latur seat has been a Congress stronghold, with Shivraj Patil serving as MP for seven consecutive terms from 1980 to 2004. However, the 2019 elections saw a shift, with BJP's Sudhakar Tukaram Shrungare winning the seat against Congress's Machhindra Kamant, reflecting changing political dynamics.
