The Chief Minister of Delhi is new. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislative party has elected Atishi as its new leader. Tuesday's MLA referendum took place at AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal's official residence in Civil Lines. Kejriwal himself suggested Atishi's name, and Manish Sisodia gave his approval. Kejriwal will now tender his resignation as chief minister to the lieutenant governor at 4.30 p.m. Following then, Atishi will make the claim on behalf of the new government.
According to AAP leaders, the new government's claim will be made today. There will be an AAP MLA delegation traveling with Kejriwal. Prior to the assembly session, the party high command desires the formation of the new government. Two MLAs will first join the administration and take an oath as ministers, with Atishi taking the oath as chief minister. September 26 and 27 are the days that the Assembly session is planned to take place. Atishi will be speaking at this session, for which preparations are underway. However, since the President's consent is required at every stage of the process—from resignation to the creation of the new government—the entire procedure can take some time.
With the Chief Minister's consent, the process will proceed:
A significant part in the creation of the new government is played by the offices of the President and the Lieutenant Governor. A new cabinet will be established following the sworn in of the new CM. Kejriwal would deliver his resignation letter to the Lieutenant Governor initially. The LG will approve it before sending it to the President. At that point, the President will accept his resignation.
The President's assent will be obtained before the oath is administered:
In a similar vein, the next government's procedure will end. Together with its members, the newly elected legislature party leader will meet with the lieutenant governor to assert their claim to form the next administration. The Lieutenant Governor will first provide approval. The President will make the ultimate choice. Ultimately, the Chief Minister and his cabinet will take the oath of office. It's anticipated that the full process will take some time.
"There is only one Chief Minister in Delhi," stated AAP leader Atishi. Arvind Kejriwal is who he is. After 11 years, Delhi will now have a new chief minister. The Delhi assembly elections are in just a few months.
It's Kejriwal's second resignation:
Kejriwal has resigned from his position as chief minister twice. In February 2014, he resigned from his position as CM. December 2013 saw Kejriwal's initial appointment as Delhi's chief minister. With the Congress's backing, he established the administration but was forced to step down after 49 days. 28 seats were gained by the AAP in the 2013 elections. 31 seats were won by the BJP. Eight seats were won by the Congress.
