Gaurav Gogoi of the Indian National Congress won the Jorhat constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, securing 751,771 votes and defeating Topon Kumar Gogoi of the BJP by 144,393 votes.

In Jorhat Constituency 2024 Lok Sabha Election Results, Gaurav Gogoi of the Indian National Congress is declared the winner, securing 751771 votes and surpassing Topon Kumar Gogoi of the Bharatiya Janata Party by 144393 votes.

Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency, located in the state of Assam, is one of its 14 parliamentary seats, with a predominantly rural population—84.08% of its residents live in villages, according to the 2011 census. The election for this constituency was successfully held on April 19th, achieving a voter turnout of 79.48 percent.

 

Traditionally, the Congress party has held a strong presence in Jorhat, winning most elections in the early years post-independence. However, in the 2019 elections, there was a notable shift towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with Topon Kumar Gogoi emerging victorious over Congress candidate Sushanta Borgohain, while Kanak Gogoi of the Communist Party of India lagged significantly behind.
