New Delhi: Dr. Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, the Chief Imam of All India Imam Organization, faced a fatwa after attending the consecration of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya on January 22. Following the fatwa, he not only expressed regret for his participation in the Pran Pratistha but also became the target of death threats. The Chief Imam revealed that extremists were upset about his involvement in the Pran Pratishtha, leading to continuous threats via phone and online channels. Despite the fatwa, he remains unafraid and refuses to apologize for his actions. The Chief Imam's visit to the temple and his assertion that humanity is the greatest religion and transcends national and religious boundaries have angered fundamentalists. They are demanding an apology from the Imam for his statements.

Imam Dr. Omar Ahmed Ilyasi went on to disclose that he has documented instances of threatening phone calls, where callers explicitly conveyed intentions of causing harm to him. Undeterred by the threats, he emphasized that those who genuinely care about him also care about the well-being of the nation and will stand in support.

He declared, "I haven't committed any crime." Firmly maintaining his stance, Ilyasi expressed his refusal to issue an apology. He insisted, "I won't apologize." Unfazed by the mounting pressure, he remained resolute, asserting that he has done nothing wrong.

In response to those critical of his participation in the function, Ilyasi suggested, "They should probably go to Pakistan." He defended his actions, stating that he has conveyed a message of love and unity, emphasizing that he has committed no crime that warrants an apology or resignation. Concluding defiantly, he stated, "I will not apologize or resign; they can do whatever they want."
