The Hardoi parliamentary seat has been a reserved seat for the Scheduled Castes since independence and 16 Lok Sabha elections have been held before 2019. Earlier, Hardoi was part of Farrukhabad North parliamentary constituency. Bulaki Ram Verma was elected as an MP in the 1952 Lok Sabha elections. The Hardoi Lok Sabha seat was created in 1957. In the 1957 Lok Sabha elections itself, the Bharatiya Jana Sangh managed to win the Hardoi seat, but in a by-election held in 1957 itself, the Congress wrested the seat and held it till 1977.
Lok Sabha elections 2019: In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP's Jai Prakash won with 5,68,143 votes, SP's Usha Verma came second with 4,35,669 votes and Congress's Virendra Kumar came third with 19,972 votes.
