Akhilesh Yadav's Confirmation of Alliance with Congress Good News for BSP?

Data reveals a significant move of SP voters towards the BSP. Will this trend repeat in the upcoming elections amid the SP-Congress alliance?

Akhilesh Yadav's Confirmation of Alliance with Congress Good News for BSP?

Lucknow: SP leader Akhilesh Yadav has affirmed the certainty of an alliance with Congress, expressing that the details will be revealed within a couple of days. Reflecting on recent developments, he stated that all is well that ends well. Addressing the ticket reduction for Dharmendra Yadav in Badaun, he mentioned that both he and his uncle will be contesting, with the specific details to be disclosed soon.

Commenting on Swami Prasad Maurya joining the INDIA alliance, Yadav noted the significant progress of the alliance. Acknowledging Sherbani's displeasure, he assured that the SP would strive to maintain unity. Yadav expressed a commitment to address any unfulfilled promises in the future. In a conversation with journalists in Thakurdwara, he criticized the BJP, labeling it synonymous with hatred and corruption.

Incensed by their inability to meet Akhilesh Yadav, party workers surrounded the Circuit House gate. They staged a protest, halted Yadav's convoy and chanted slogans against the district president. After Yadav assured a return to meet them, the workers permitted the convoy to proceed.

Akhilesh Yadav, arriving at the Circuit House by private helicopter on Wednesday, faced disgruntled workers denied entry. Blaming the local party president, DP Yadav, for the restriction, the workers voiced their discontent. When Yadav departed for Siddh Hospital to inquire about Sambhal MP Dr. Shafiqur Rehman Burke's well-being, workers obstructed his convoy at the gate. Yadav, opening the car gate, invited the workers to meet him, leading to the convoy's subsequent passage. He then proceeded to Siddha Hospital on Kant Road for the well-being check of the Sambhal MP.

SP-Congress Alliance & Potential Voter Shift to BSP :

In the 2019 general elections, the BSP secured 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh through a strategic alliance with the SP. During this collaboration, there was a noticeable shift in votes from the SP to the BSP. The prevailing trend suggests that in the upcoming elections, there is a potential for SP voters to once again transfer their support to the BSP. The alliance between the SP and Congress is anticipated to face challenges, with the underlying premise being that SP voters traditionally align with the party due to its anti-Congress stance. Now that the SP has formed an alliance with the Congress, disgruntled voters may likely shift allegiance to the BSP, and in some cases, even the BJP.

The historical data from 2019 indicates a significant pattern of SP voters leaning towards the BSP. Despite the 2019 elections being on a national scale, the consolidation of votes for the BSP was substantial. This trend could intensify further, given the disillusionment of SP voters who may find solace in the BSP, a party that has not allied with either the Congress or the BJP. The prospect of increased support for the BSP seems plausible, considering the current sentiments and historical voting patterns.
