Tragedy struck Pune early Sunday morning when a 17-year-old boy driving a Porsche crashed into a motorbike, killing the two riders. CCTV footage has emerged showing the Porsche speeding well above the limit moments before the fatal collision.
Reports indicate the teenager was under the influence of alcohol after celebrating his class 12 results at a pub hours before the incident. The CCTV captures the car on a road with other vehicles and pedestrians before the Porsche blurs by at an estimated 200 kilometers per hour.
The victims, identified as IT professionals Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta from Madhya Pradesh, were reportedly thrown a significant distance from the impact. The incident occurred around 2:15 am in Kalyani Nagar.
Public outrage erupted after the crash, with locals attempting to confront the occupants of the car. The minor driver was detained but released on bail in under 15 hours by the Juvenile Justice Board. The board reportedly imposed a unique condition on his bail – a 300-word essay on the topic of road safety and assisting traffic police for 15 days.
This tragic event highlights the dangers of reckless driving and underage drinking. The easy access to bail has also sparked discussions about stricter penalties for such offences.
