The Ministry of Home Affairs, sometimes referred to as the Home Ministry, is a ministry within the Government of India. It is primarily accountable for the preservation of internal security and domestic policies. The minister of home affairs leads it. The Ministry of Home Affairs serves as the cadre governing authority for the Indian Police Service (IPS).
