Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Case: Supreme Court declined to postpone the Allahabad High Court's decision

On Friday, the Supreme Court declined to postpone the Allahabad High Court's decision to permit the appointment of a court commissioner to conduct a preliminary assessment of the Shahi Idgah complex, which is next to the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.

The Allahabad High Court on Thursday, December 14, approved the first survey of the Idgah by a three-person team of attorney commissioners under court supervision, marking a significant victory for the Hindu side. On December 18, the commission of advocates would deliberate on the survey's procedures.

For the masjid committee, Senior Advocate Huzefa Ahmadi said that the trial court, the High Court, had issued “certain interlocutory orders which have an impact on the outcome”.

Nonetheless, the Supreme Court noted that there had been no official challenge to the Allahabad High Court's order.

The matter can be heard after the holiday, according to Justice Khanna, and the hearing will recommence on January 9. The mosque committee may petition the Supreme Court in the meantime if the High Court issues an order, the court stated.

The Idgah complex is the subject of at least eighteen petitions before the Allahabad High Court. The Hindu side argues that Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb built the mosque by razing a temple situated on 13.37 acres of land, which was the birthplace of Lord Krishna.
