Captain Daniel Joseph DDG, Donates Blood at 62nd National Maritime Day Celebrations (NMDC) in Mumbai

Mumbai, April 3, 2025 – As part of the 62nd National Maritime Day Celebrations (NMDC), multiple blood donation drives and free health check-up camps have been set up across Mumbai. Among the many participants, Captain Daniel Joseph, Deputy Director General (DDG) of Shipping, India, contributed to the noble cause by donating blood, reinforcing the importance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives.

Speaking on the occasion, Captain Daniel Joseph emphasized the critical need for regular blood donations. “Blood donation is one of the simplest yet most powerful ways to save lives. A single donation can make a difference for multiple patients in need. As seafarers and maritime professionals, we understand the importance of coming together for a greater cause, and I encourage everyone to donate whenever possible.”

The NMDC event, which honors India's rich maritime heritage, has also taken a strong humanitarian approach this year, integrating public health initiatives alongside the celebrations. Attendees have the opportunity to not only contribute to blood donation drives but also avail themselves of free medical check-ups conducted by healthcare professionals.

“This initiative serves as a reminder that the maritime community is deeply connected to society, not just through trade and security but also through acts of service like this,” said an event coordinator.

Authorities encourage citizens to participate in the ongoing health camps and blood donation drives across various centers. For further details on locations and timings, individuals can reach out to the event coordinators or visit the official NMDC website.

This year’s National Maritime Day Celebrations continue to exemplify the values of service, unity, and commitment to the welfare of both the maritime industry and the larger community.
