Madhur Jaffrey is a British-American actor, author of cookbooks and travel literature, and television personality. She was born on August 13, 1933, in India. She is acknowledged for introducing Indian food to the Western hemisphere through her inaugural cookbook, "An Invitation to Indian Cooking (1973)," which was enshrined in the James Beard Foundation's Cookbook Hall of Fame in 2006. She has also performed in numerous films, including Shakespeare Wallah (1965), for which she received the Silver Bear for Best Actress at the 15th Berlin International Film Festival. She has performed in dramas across radio, stage, and television.
