On the 77th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag for the tenth time and extended his congratulations to all citizens. Addressing the nation from the Red Fort, New Delhi, India. He began with the words "mere pyare parivaar vaasiyon."
PM Modi addressed various issues during his 90-minute speech, his longest since taking office. The theme for this year's Independence Day was 'Country first, always first.'
He began by addressing the destruction caused by climate change in northern India and assuring the affected regions of help from both the central and state governments.
Paying tribute to the freedom fighters and soldiers who contributed to India's independence struggle, he highlighted advancements in sectors such as technology, healthcare, employment, and infrastructure. PM Modi emphasized the importance of demography, democracy, and diversity in shaping India's future.
He unveiled the 'Vishwakarma Yojana,' allocating 13,000 to 15,000 crore rupees in September to promote traditional skills.
PM Modi mentioned India's global prominence as the 'Vishwa Guru' and recognized women's dedication in various fields. He pledged to empower rural women with the '2 crore lakhpati didi' initiative, utilizing technological advancements in agriculture.
Regarding democracy, he identified corruption, nepotism, and appeasement as threats, and stressed the need to move away from the 'family for party' approach.
PM Modi expressed the goal of achieving "Vikas Bharat" by 2047 and called for promoting probity, transparency, and objectivity to develop India into a developed country.
Concluding his speech, he guaranteed India's place among the world's top three economies.
As India celebrated its 77th Independence Day on 15th August, Pm Modi after unfurling the flag from the Lahori Gate at the iconic Red Fort in Delhi delivered 90 minutes speech marking his 10th Independence Day address.
