In the Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, January 12, a convoy of vehicles carrying security officers was reportedly attacked by suspected militants. After the initial round of gunfire, the terrorists may have escaped, targeting a convoy of security force cars. No injuries have been recorded as of yet.
This happened after militants in December ambushed two army trucks in Dhatyar Morh, Surankote, killing four troops and critically wounding three more.
The People's Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), a Jaish-e-Mohammad offshoot, claimed responsibility for the December attack.
The incident was discovered when Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi reviewed the anti-terror operational plan for 2024. The present state of security in the Jammu region was considered in this assessment.
Lieutenant General Dwivedi presented the plan of action for dealing with and eliminating the terrorists.
Still, the attack did not result in any casualties to the security staff. The Army's White Night Corps reported on X that at approximately 1800 hours today suspected terrorists from a nearby jungle in the Poonch sector ambushed a convoy of Security Forces vehicles. They are appreciative that none of their soldiers have been wounded. Joint search activities are being carried out by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Security personnel started searching the area right after the incident in an attempt to find the terrorists.
