An explosion occurred at the well-known Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru's Brookefield area on Friday, March 1st, resulting in injuries to at least nine individuals. Among the injured were three staff members and one customer. The home minister stated that the victims had been transported to a nearby hospital, where officials confirmed they sustained minor injuries and are now in stable condition, out of immediate danger.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the explosion at The Rameshwaram Cafe, a well-known eatery in the neighborhood. Simultaneously, the police are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to reconstruct the events leading up to the blast. Additionally, a unit from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), specializing in counter-terrorism, has arrived at the cafe to assist in the inquiry.
BJP MP Tejasvi Surya claimed that, according to the cafe owner, the explosion was triggered by a bag left behind by a customer, suggesting it appears to be a straightforward case of a bomb blast. Tejasvi Surya added that numerous questionable metal fragments, including batteries, were discovered at the blast site. Investigative agencies are determining whether these items are remnants of the explosion or part of the surrounding materials.
Preliminary information indicated that an item placed in a bag detonated at approximately 1 pm, resulting in black smoke in and around the cafe. Police authorities stated that forensic teams were in the process of gathering materials, and the precise cause of the explosion would be established through subsequent tests.
G Parameshwara, the Home Minister of Karnataka, conveyed that the explosion did not appear to be related to a cylinder, and the blast's origin would be determined once forensic teams collected and tested samples from the blast site.
