The work is still under progress seven years after the United Nations Government launched the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG).

 

About NMCG

Seven years of National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) was registered as a society on 12th August 2011 under the Societies Registration Act 1886.

 

The goal of the Mission for Clean Ganga is to revitalise the Ganga by using the greatest knowledge and resources currently available worldwide.

 

Target to success

To achieve efficient pollution reduction and river Ganga rejuvenation by using a river basin strategy to encourage cross-sectoral coordination for thorough planning and management.

 

To sustain minimum ecological flows in the Ganga with the aim of ensuring water quality and environmentally sustainable development.

 

Management Structure

The mission is managed by a two-tiered structure that consists of an executive committee and governing council. Both of them are led by the NMCG Director General.

 

Executive Committee has been authorized to accord approval for all projects up to Rs.1000 crore.
