Olympics in Reel Life Presented by Film Heritage Foundation in partnership with the Olympic Museum Lausanne, Switzerland
As a prelude to a significant milestone in this year's calendar — India hosting the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session for the first time since 1983, and amid talk of Indian interest in hosting a future edition of the Olympic Games — Film Heritage Foundation, in collaboration with the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland, presents Olympics in Reel Life - A Festival of Films and Photographs, a first-of-its-kind two-week-long festival of Olympic films and BookASmile, BookMyShow's charitable endeavour, Qube Cinema Technologies, the Abhinav Bindra Foundation, and Hyperlink are all supporting the event.
The festival is divided into three sections:
A festival of 33 films and 10 series: Dating back to 1912, curated from the Olympic Museum's collection, including official Olympic Games films by celebrated directors such as Kon Ichikawa, Milos Forman, Carlos Saura, Len Riefenstahl, and John Schlesinger, as well as Olympic Channel series about India's Olympic journey.
Olympism Made Visible- It is an international photography project that examines the role of sport in society and as a catalyst for social progress and peace, showcasing the work of notable photographers such as Poulomi Basu, Dana Lixenberg, and Lorenzo Vitturi.
Indians in the Olympics- Famous images that will cast a spotlight on Indian athletes at the Olympics for decades.
Legendary superstar Amitabh Bachchan, Abhinav Bindra – Olympic gold medalist, Aparna Popat – two-time Olympian and badminton champion, M.M. Somaya – three-time Olympian and member of the hockey team that won the gold at the 1980 Moscow Olympics and Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, filmmaker and Founder Director of Film Heritage Foundation were presented at the poster launch of “Olympics in Reel Life.
At the electrifying opening ceremony of "Olympics in Reel Life - A Festival of Films and Photographs" at NCPA, Mumbai on October 01, 2023, FHF Ambassador Amitabh Bachchan delivered a warm welcome to prominent visitors and eager audience members.
