76th Primetime Emmy Awards 2024: The comedy and drama categories were dominated by The Bear and Shogun, while Hacks emerged as the unexpected winner in the Best Comedy category.

At the Sunday Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, the FX series The Bear, starring Jeremy Allen White, and the historical epic Shogun, which tells the story of rival dynasties in medieval Japan, topped the Drama and Comedy categories.

 

A few of the evening's early prizes went to the Bear. First off, for his performance as the head chef in FX's The Bear, Jeremy Allen White won the Best Actor in a Comedy Series award once more. Later on, Shogun started to rule the Drama sections. However, Hacks surprised everyone by winning the Comedy category and defeating The Bear. Check out the full winner list:

The 2024 Emmy Awards delivered unexpected wins and powerful performances. Hacks surprised many by winning Outstanding Comedy Series, edging out the frontrunner The Bear, which still secured 11 trophies, including acting wins for Jeremy Allen White and Liza Colón-Zayas. The historical drama Shogun dominated the night with 18 awards, including Outstanding Drama Series, and acting accolades for Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai. Baby Reindeer also shined, claiming Best Limited Series and a win for Jessica Gunning in the supporting actress category
