Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay, and his girlfriend Dakota Johnson recently went to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh Mela. A fan has now posted a video of him seeing the two there on Instagram.
Embracing the local customs, Martin and Johnson donned traditional attire as they took a holy dip at the Sangam—the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. This act, known as 'Shahi Snan' or royal bath, is considered highly auspicious and is a central ritual of the Kumbh Mela, believed to cleanse one's sins and facilitate liberation from the cycle of rebirth.
Their presence at the festival drew significant attention, with videos circulating on social media showing the couple greeting fans and participating in the spiritual festivities.
On January 27, Chris and Dakota were spotted in Prayagraj. The two were sitting in a car wearing saffron-colored clothing. On January 16, they arrived in India as part of Coldplay's musical tour. Chris performed in Mumbai and Ahmedabad alongside the members of Coldplay. On Republic Day, they performed their final act of the Music of the Spheres tour's Indian leg at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.
Chris gave a moving homage to India at the Ahmedabad performance by performing patriotic songs like Vande Mataram and Maa Tujhhe Salaam. The crowd was instantly mesmerised by the heartfelt performance, and they responded with enthusiastic clapping and cheers. He gave a "Salute to Mother India" as he concluded the performance and wished everyone a happy Republic Day.
