Popular ticketing platform BookMyShow has issued a stern warning to Coldplay fans and the general public, following a surge in complaints about exorbitant ticket reselling for the band’s upcoming concert in Mumbai. Fans have reported tickets being sold for as high as several lakhs of rupees on unauthorized platforms, sparking outrage and concern.
In an official statement, BookMyShow clarified that the resale of concert tickets at inflated prices is not only unethical but also illegal in India. “The resale of tickets at inflated prices is illegal and goes against the terms and conditions of ticket purchases. We strongly discourage any such activities and are working closely with authorities to take appropriate action,” the company said.
Fans of the British band Coldplay were left frustrated after tickets for their much-anticipated India concert sold out within minutes of going live on the platform. Soon after, reports surfaced that scalpers were reselling tickets at exorbitant prices on secondary websites and social media platforms, with prices reaching several lakhs.
BookMyShow emphasized that all tickets must be purchased through official channels, warning fans against buying from unauthorized sellers. "Any tickets purchased from resellers or third-party platforms risk being invalid and may not grant entry to the event," the platform added, urging fans to report any instances of inflated ticket sales.
The platform's website states that tickets cost between ₹2,500 to ₹12,500, with an additional ₹35,000 for the lounge area. After the server recovered in less than an hour, BookMyShow posted a notice stating that there was "heavy traffic" attempting to purchase tickets on all accounts, with a wait list as long as 842,745 (as of 1:39 pm, according to data on the BookMyShow website). "Due to increased traffic, the queue is moving more slowly than anticipated. I appreciate your patience," the platform statement said.

The band's previous performance in India was a sold-out event, making their return highly anticipated by fans across the country.
