History and Growth
Greenlam Laminates was first introduced as a brand in 1993–1994 while operating under the Greenply Industries banner. Shiv Prakash Mittal is the founder and chairman of Greenlam Industries. He worked for Kitply before starting Greenlam. After working for Kitply for over two decades, he decided to start his own business in 1993. And he started The Greenlam-Greenply a combined set up with a small office in Paharganj, Delhi.
Greenlam had started its first one-production line plant in Alwar, Rajasthan, in 1993. The company started the veneer business in 2008, and established a large laminate manufacturing facility in Himachal Pradesh. Between 2003 and 2014, Greenlam emerged as a dominant force in the laminate, veneer, flooring, and plywood industries.
The business established Greenlam South Limited (GSL) and purchased Greenlam Decolan SA in Switzerland in 2019. Greenlam raised Rs. 99 crore by issuing its first set of listed non-convertible debentures in 2022. The same year, the business funded Rs. 195 cr. through a preferential issuance of equity shares and purchased a laminate plant in Prantij, Gujarat.
Greenlam started a greenfield plywood factory in Tindivanam, a greenfield laminate unit in Naidupeta, and an expanded capacity laminate mill in Prantij in 2023.
