Winners of the 69th National Film Awards in 2023: On Thursday, the 69th National Film Awards were announced at the National Media Centre in New Delhi. The ceremony, which will take place at a later date, will recognize the best Indian films produced in all languages in the calendar year 2021. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) certified feature and non-feature films between January 1, 2021, and December 31, 2021, were eligible for competition.
Allu Arjun won Best Actor for Pushpa: The Rise, Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon shared Best Actress honours for Gangubai Kathiawadi and Mimi, respectively. The prize for Best Feature Film went to Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. At the 69th National Film Awards, The Kashmir Files received the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Film on National Integration.
Sardar Udham, Shoojit Sircar's biographical historical drama, won multiple accolades at the 69th National Film accolades. In addition to being voted Best Hindi Film, it also received accolades for Best Cinematography (Avik Mukhopadhyay), Best Audiography (Sinoy Joseph), Best Production Design (Dmitrii Malich and Mansi Dhruv Mehta), and Best Costume Design (Veera Kapur Ee).
The National Film prizes are the most prestigious prizes, given out yearly to recognise the best filmmaking talent in the country. The National Film Awards, according to the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting's Directorate of Film Festivals, "aim to encourage the production of films of aesthetic and technical excellence as well as social relevance.
The honours were named as the 'State honours' when they were first given out in 1954. Only the best films in various regional languages were honoured and awarded at the time. The first awards for performers and professionals working on films were given out in 1967. For her portrayal in Raat Aur Din, Nargis became the first performer to win Best Actress. In the same year, Uttam Kumar received Best Actor for Antony Firingee and Chiriyakhana.
